🟩 Introduction

Highlands Coffee is one of the largest café chains in Vietnam, with branches in almost every city. It’s a familiar name even to tourists and locals alike.

This time, I visited the branch located on the tail (western) side of the Dragon Bridge (Cầu Rồng) in Da Nang. While the location was perfect, the Wi-Fi speed and stability were extremely poor, making it unsuitable for any type of remote work.

📍 Access – Perfect for Sightseeing

This branch is located on the western end (tail side) of the famous Dragon Bridge in Da Nang.

Its location makes it a convenient resting spot during sightseeing or while exploring the riverside area.

📶 Wi-Fi Speed – Slowest on This Trip

Speed test results from Fast.com were as follows:

  • 📥 Download: 6.5Mbps
  • 📤 Upload: 22Mbps
  • 🕒 Latency: 395ms

🔍 What is Latency?

Latency is the time it takes for data to travel from your device to the server and back. High latency can lead to:

UsageImpact
Zoom calls or video meetingsAudio/video delay and lag
Online workSluggish performance and slow response
Chat or social mediaNoticeable delay in typing and sending

🚨 A latency of 395ms is extremely high and makes real-time tasks very difficult.

🔌 Power Outlets – Available Along the Walls

There are multiple outlets available near the wall-side counter seats, so charging is not a problem.

However, due to the slow Wi-Fi, the environment is not ideal for laptop work.

👥 Atmosphere – Noisy and Crowded

The café is spacious with plenty of seats including sofas, counter seats, and tables.

However, depending on the time of day, it can get quite crowded and noisy, making it hard to focus on any task.

🥤 Menu – Good Variety for a Quick Break

The menu includes espresso-based drinks, Vietnamese coffee, fruit teas, and more.

You’ll also find desserts and packaged drinks in the fridge next to the cashier.

It’s a decent stop for tourists looking to grab a quick drink or snack during their trip.

🧾 Summary – Great for Resting, Not for Working

  • ✅ Excellent location near Dragon Bridge
  • ✅ Wide variety of drinks / outlets available
  • ⚠️ Very poor Wi-Fi speed and high latency
  • ⚠️ Noisy environment – not suitable for extended remote work

If you’re just taking a short break while sightseeing, it’s fine. But I don’t recommend it for digital nomads or anyone looking to work from a café.

📝 Final Notes

It may depend on the time of day, but this particular Highlands Coffee branch was too noisy and had unreliable internet.

That said, I’ve had better experiences at other Highlands Coffee branches in different cities, where the atmosphere was quiet and the Wi-Fi was much better.

Please keep in mind that not all locations are the same.
