✅ Introduction

While Nha Trang is mostly known for its beaches, I decided to check out a more cultural spot during my stay—Long Sơn Pagoda.
To be completely honest, I wasn’t prepared for the heat and stairs. It turned out to be more of a mini-hike than a casual temple visit. But hey, the view and giant statues were worth the sweat.

📜 A Bit of History

Long Sơn Pagoda was originally built around 1886 by the monk Thích Ngộ Chí. After a flood, it was relocated to its current site.
Over the decades, the pagoda has been restored multiple times and today stands as a spiritual hub in Nha Trang.

🥵 Be Prepared: It’s Hot and Has Stairs

Though the grounds aren’t enormous, you’ll need to climb over 150 steps to reach the giant Buddha at the top.
If you’re visiting in summer, brace yourself—it gets very hot. Bring water, take breaks, and don’t rush it.

🛕 The Main Hall

Near the entrance is a traditional red-roofed temple with a golden Buddha statue and decorative lanterns. A peaceful place to rest before the climb.

🛏 Reclining Buddha

About halfway up, you’ll find a large Reclining Buddha statue, surrounded by carved disciples mourning his passing—symbolizing Nirvana and the impermanence of life.

🔔 Bell Tower

The bell tower nearby offers a short shady break and some breeze. It’s a nice spot to catch your breath before the final stairs.

🧘‍♂️ The Giant Seated Buddha

At the top sits a 24-meter-tall white Buddha statue, overlooking the city of Nha Trang. It was built in memory of monks who self-immolated in 1963. A calm yet powerful place.

💬 Final Thoughts

It wasn’t the most relaxing stop, but it was definitely worthwhile. If you’re okay with stairs and heat, this temple gives you a refreshing contrast to Nha Trang’s beach vibe.
Just don’t forget to go early—or bring sunscreen and water.
