While walking around Nha Trang, I noticed several branches of a restaurant called Ot Hiem. Drawn by its lush, tropical entrance and traditionally styled interior, I decided to stop in for a quick meal.
I ordered the Bún Riêu Cua (crab-based noodle soup) and an Atiso drink (artichoke tea). The presentation was beautiful and looked great in photos—but to be honest, the flavor didn’t quite suit my taste.
💡Quick Glance|Ot Hiem Overview
Item | Details |
---|---|
Restaurant | Ớt Hiếm |
Location | Multiple branches in Nha Trang |
Ordered | Bún Riêu Cua & Atiso drink |
Taste | Looks good, but the flavor wasn’t for me |
Ambience | Lovely atmosphere with lots of greenery |
Wi-Fi Speed | 1.8 Mbps download (not ideal for working) |
Customer Base | Mainly Korean tourists, quite crowded |
Other Notes | Extensive menu for tourists, but a bit pricey |
📍Atmosphere & Exterior
The outside is surrounded by tropical plants—almost like a jungle—which made a great first impression. The interior is heavily decorated and clearly aimed at attracting tourists.

🍜Food & Drinks
I ordered Bún Riêu Cua, a Vietnamese crab noodle soup. The broth had a rich color and looked promising, but I found it to be rather bland, and it honestly didn’t taste very good to me.
Because I’ve had some truly delicious Bún Riêu Cua in Hanoi, this one felt a bit disappointing by comparison.

The Atiso drink came loaded with ice and had a gentle sweetness—perfect for a hot day, but it was a bit too sweet for my taste.

📶Wi-Fi Speed & Work Conditions
As someone who often works remotely, I tested the Wi-Fi speed: only 1.8 Mbps download. The upload speed was decent at 9.6 Mbps, but the connection was too slow for any reliable work.

🌀Air Conditioning & Comfort
There was no working air conditioning inside. The restaurant relies on open windows and a few ceiling fans for ventilation. If you’re after a local, open-air feel, you might enjoy it—but it could get quite warm.
💬My Honest Thoughts
If you’re looking to try a wide range of Vietnamese dishes in one place, Ot Hiem may be a convenient choice. The menu is designed for tourists and offers a good variety.
However, the flavors didn’t suit my palate, and the prices felt a bit high, so I don’t think I’ll be returning.

📌Conclusion
Ot Hiem is clearly set up for tourists, with beautiful decor and photo-friendly vibes. While it looks great, the food may not satisfy those who value authentic flavor. It’s not the best pick for digital nomads or budget travelers, but if you’re after a visual experience and don’t mind a lighter taste, it might be worth a visit.
